Does anyone know... if there were TWO different 1990 Excalibur Token Sets floating around that year?
I heard there were two - one set of 8 uncirculated proof or proof-like, ( 7 - $1 tokens and 1 - $5 token) where the dies were destroyed after about 1,000 were minted. And then the other set is of 7 - $1 tokens (some circulated and some not) were minted with new dies.
Can anyone be a little more specific about the differences in these two token sets? One explanation I got had something to do with raised versus not raised details on the coin surface? And does anyone know if they were reeded, partly reeded - or smooth or whatever?
Also, I saw one set on sale on at a Buy It Now price of $100 and they were in what appeared to be a leather velvet-lined case and came with a paper/certificate of authenticity and # x of y numbered item type thing. The other set I have read about (I believe first edition where the dies were destroyed) came in a plastic case? A Screw-tight I think?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
