Hey Chuck, I understand your position, as well as that of several other members who are posting in outrage (or just mild indigestion) over this subject.
But I really think the railing against the machine in this case is due to specific individuals they have dealt with in the past on the board or whatever.
I submit, however, that most claims of that type would likely be dismissed nearly out-of-hand because of the history involved. Of course it would be up to the complainer to provide proof of the COE violations, and if you (or any club member) have been above the board in dealings with members or non-members, why on earth would anyone care if the non-members can make complaints?
Aside from the potential for "The Trolls" to generate a mountain of paper (or bits and bytes) by filing flimsy complaints and harassment-only claims (and THAT is an argument I haven't yet seen made against the rule), I see no reason why it would be bad to let non-members complain!
Mind you, this is not a slap at anyone, just MHO on a touchy subject.
