A currency bureau (this was about 6-7 years ago) and at them time we had the 'superdollar' $100 counterfeits and boy they were good, you had to look for flaws on the printing plate to tell them, plus these were the days when all dollars were green and black and mixing them up was not uncommon. I must admit i do like the new dollars (had to send some over for ebay wins) but if i remember correctly all US currency notes have no expiry date. We even used to get the odd silver certificate changed up!!
Here in the UK of course the decision for us will be switch to the Euro or stick with the Pound, and both of these will be paper for a time to come, although our smallest note the £5 is now made of a special waxed paper which is supposed to prolong the life and we do already have plastic currency in the Isle Of Man (only legal tender on the Isle but you can use GBP there as well)
Thankyou for you posts, nice to see and always interesting
Andy
