Hiya Mark, I believe these chips were made with an inlay on one side only, purely as a gift shop item to be used in keychains or possibly money clips. Usually show up with a dab of glue on the blank side when you find them loose. Same chip if you find them loose or in a keychain or other accessory. Can't imagine at this point in their history that it makes any difference to the hobby if the little beasties "fall" out of their holder. Seems to me the "souvenir" marking and the common knowledge of their use would make any complaint about them being an altered chip if loose...MOOT!
