Hi Gene, first of all let me thank you for your thoughtfull and civil posts. After reading all of your posts, I think you are right about slabbing, it wont work and will not be accepted by the chip community, myself included. Even my idea of a temporary sealed slab is not very workable. I have never been for gradeing chips and as a coin collector I have seen the stark differences in grades. All I want is a way to authenticate and while xray may not be perfect it is one means of protection. While your post on the 4 xrayed chips
does give pause, I am wondering , since I dont know who did your xraying or how up to date the xray device is,if better and new devices would be of any use.Whalen was not selling the chip at the show, he showed me a chip he had repaired and while he didnt say so, I got that it was a chip awaiting delivery. He also had some marbled mixed colored brass core chips that he was selling. Now as for your " solution", I agree 100%.
