Here is my solution.
Know who you are buying from. Ask questions.
Ask for a written guarantee the chip was not repaired. Don’t be afraid to show the chip to someone you trust before you buy it.
We have problems in our hobby, notably the brass core scandal of a few years ago. Don’t get me started on that one, I am still sick over those results.
The problems need to be addressed but slabbing is not the answer.
