While on my most recent trip to Arkansas, Missouri and Colorado I met some very interesting people.
In Colorado I met a very nice lady who told me this story.
"In the 1940's my cousins father went to a PTA meeting in Las Vegas".
"The City had donated some parcels of land to the PTA that were 1 or 2 blocks off the "Strip". These lots were donated to the PTA for a LAND RAFFLE."
"On the night of the raffle the weather was horrible, and my cousins father was the only person to show up for the raffle". He purchased 8 raffle tickets for 25 cents each".
"He won all 8 lots for a total of $2.00".
"The only requirement was that he put some type building on each lot and run electric to the building."
This lady was in her 60's and she told the story like it happened yesterday.
I would like some of our "Las Vegas Historians" to post if they think this could have happened.
I have no reason to think that this, very nice lady, was making up this story.
She conclude that "Needless to say, they are very, very wealthy and they still own a couple of the parcels that are very, very valuable".
Please post your opinion.
