I saw something on the news tonight about the Chandra Levy murder investigation (5 years +).

And it reminded me of Gary Condit. A politition involved in an affair with her, it was suggested he was possibly implicated in her death, and the press turned up another affair he'd been involved in.

It must have been a slow news period, because every day, for a month or more, the Gary Condit/Chandra Levy affair/murder was on every newscast and newspaper front page.

The media were on him like a pack of dogs that wouldn't let go. Day after day, week after week, they kept at him. His politocal career went down the drain. His whole life was coming apart.

And then, 9-11 happened.

Maybe he wasn't 'happy' about it, but I bet he sure was relieved to see something else on the front page.
