I knew there had to be an intense history here, and could only guess at the extent of it. I came into chipping post "Slab Wars". I think I have a better understanding of some of that history today.
Generally, when you post on a board like this, you get some time to think thru your argument,
and your passion on either side of an argument comes out in ways that would never happen in a face-to-face discussion.
There are people who post here regularly who are respected and influential leaders of the chipping community. Like it or not, your thoughts/posts on this board matter. People, and especially newbies, are percieving you though that small prism......what you write here. Your passion
against slabbing can easily be perceived as self-righteous indignation. That will NEVER help the cause.
Try and resist the temptation to respond to the flamers. Anyone with enough motivation to become "involved" will figure out in a week or so just who really cares about chipping and just who really cares about arguing.
Keep up the good fight, just do it with the facts. That is the best way to influence people.
