Just something to think about folks.
10 Men (or men & women) go out to dinner every day. The bill for all 10 comes to $100.
They decide to split the bill the same way they pay their taxes. That is, based on their income.
The first four pay nothing.
The fifth pays $1.
The sixth pays $3.
The seventh pays $7.
The eighth pays $12.
The ninth pays $18.
The tenth pays $59.
After 6 months, the owner of the restaurant says "Since you are all such good customers, I am only going to charge you $80". (The tax cut)
The 10 folks decide to continue to split the bill the same way.
The first 4 still pay nothing.
The other 6 try to figure out how to split the $20 windfall so that they each got their fair share.
If they divided the $20 by 6 each would get $3.33 in credit.
If they did this, number 5 and 6 would get paid to have dinner.
The restaurant owner suggested they divide the $20 credit the same way as they have been paying for the meal the first 6 months. They all agreed.
Now number 5 ate free, just like 1,2.3, and 4.
Number 6 now paid $2 instead of $3.
Number 7 now paid $5 instead of $7.
Number 8 now paid $9 instead of $12.
Number 9 now paid $14 instead of $18
Number 10 now paid $49 instead of $59.
After paying the bill, the folks began to argue.
Number 5 & 6 said "I only saved a $1"
Number 7 "Said I only saved $2, The rich get all the breaks".
Numbers 1,2,3, and 4 said "We didn't get anything at all".
They beat number 10 up so bad that the next night he did not come to dinner.
The other 9 ate without him. When it came time to pay the bill they discovered that they did not have enought money to pay even half the bill.
As a group the other 9 said, "I sure miss ol' number 10 and the restaurant owner said "I heard he moved away".
