Glen; I'm quite confident that if you will take the time to do a search through the chipboard.com archives on slabbing, you'll find plenty of discussions that took place on this message board regarding the pros and cons of the entire slabbing issue. I don't have the inclination or the ambition to go through them all over again at this point in time when the record is quite clear that a substantial number of club members are opposed to slabbing ... and they were not bashful about volunteering their name to be put into the record ... which you've insulted many of them by calling them "sheep" for doing so.
I bear no grudges against those who are in favor of slabbing. To each his/her own. They are free to submit every single rare chip they have in their respective collections to a 3rd party grading/slabbing service if they so desire. Knock yourself out.
However, having said that ... The elected club officers are well within their rights to make a determination as to what they feel is in the best interests of the hobby and to place restrictions on slabbing within the confines of club activities. Pro-slab chip collectors are equally able to submit chips for 3rd party grading and slabbing and to sell slabbed chips to whomever they wish. They may put their slabbed chips up for bid on ebay, jackpot, or any other auction house. They can sell their slabbed chips via this chipboard, or via emails. They may not advertise slabbed chips for sale in the club magazine, nor offer them for sale at a bourse table booked at the club convention, nor may they exhibit slabbed chips in a convention display, per club policy. Those who disagree with this club policy that has been in effect for several years now are encouraged to run for office and change the policy ... that is; if they can get a majority of support from their fellow four club officers to vote the same way.
Let me ask a serious question of you Mr. Grush. I don't believe I ever met you. I harbor no jealousy about the value of your collection..., (perceived or real). I could care less what value you put on your collection. I don't even know what you collect, arrowdies not withstanding. In fact, prior to today I was not even familiar with your name.
My question is this; Prior to today ... when was the last time you made a post about ANY subject on thechipboard.com?
