The dealers keep saying they won't return, year after year after year. I have seen it. And sure enough, the majority of dealers DO show up again & sure enough they are complaining once the event starts.
Nothing will change unless the dealers confront management as a group BEFORE the WSOP starts next year & they get something in writing. In previous years it might not have worked, because there were plenty of dealers. Now the event is so large that dealers are hard to come by.
From what I have seen, Harrah's is screwing the dealers AND the poker players. They want to latch onto every dollar they can & they give up very little. Harrah's likes to think that they are doing this great job with the WSOP. When in fact, if it were not for online poker bringing in the majority of the 8,773 players in the main event, AND fueling interest in poker, so that the other events get more players, there would not be much of a WSOP. Take away online poker, poker on TV with hole card cams & a guy named Moneymaker, winning one year & we might only have about 4 poker rooms total here in Las Vegas. That's about where we were before it exploded.
Harrah's needs to start giving BACK to the poker world for a change. They can start with talking less of a cut from the players on every event. And then start giving the dealers more of what they deserve! Andy - Las Vegas
