On that linked webpage it states:
> In fact, casino security guards have no more authority to detain, restrain, arrest, or investigate than any other
> non-law enforcement individual. They are simply employees who carry weapons.
Wrong! Casino security guards and even the security guards at your local Walmart, CVS Pharmacy etc... are considered Special Officers appointed by the Nevada Department of Public Safety, Applicants do have to go through a stringent application process.
Not only do Special Officers have the right to carry a firearm but they are also authorized under Nevada's state statutes to take into custody, question, detain and if necessary have the authority to arrest a person or person(s) for committing a crime such as theft etc...
My cousin Jeff was a Maryland State Police Special Officer for five years and he worked for CVS in their Loss Prevention Department and he did detain and arrest shoplifters in his stores.
With that said I would like to point out that just because there are a few bad seeds in casino security doesn't mean that the entire industry is corrupt and looking to abuse casino patrons, that would be like saying there are a few bad cops in the Las Vegas Metro Police but that doesn't mean the entire department is bad.
