Plucking a single chip from the end of a row probably will not produce a snapping sound. However, when plucking the $2.50 first and then going for the red-bird (a $5 chip) ($7.50 is the natural 21 payoff for a $5 bet) the dealer will slap the $2.50 against the stack of $5's to pull off the next $5.
That is when the distinctive 'snap' is heard and where the term "snapper" comes from.
I sure wish someone had a .wav file on that payout, I sure love the sound!!
