Yes.

During the stock market boom of the 90s and the advent of online investing, many folks "became" investment professionals. More than just a few folks made very poor decisions during that time and "investing" became little more than online gambling.

Poker has (to some extent) fed that same mania.

I don't claim to understand such media fed passion but I am always glad to see it pass.
