Re: Preserving and Collecting Silver Strikes

Thank you for your reply. A lot of good insight in there.

When I set out on these questions I was looking for any insight from others who have been collecting more than I have. All opinions would be appreciated.

For the sake of the darkening and discolorations, I transfer all my Strikes to the AirTites. I would lean in thinking that the condition of the strike itself is more important than the capsule that it is in. My instinct was that the AirTites were better in that regard but, before I go out and order a bunch more and spend the money, I wanted to know how important the capsules are to other collectors. Do they prefer the tokens as they were out of the machines or preserved in their brightness and other condition etc.

I can see about the colored capsules. I had never actually seen such Silver Strikes, except yesterday on eBay. I guess, in those cases, I would leave the tokens in their original colored cases as I am not aware of a similar replacement.

The friend that I wrote about earlier has about 40 strikes that she is looking to give me, or I assume Sell to me. I am not sure I will be able to afford them all but was thinking that if she isn't looking for a big price, I might pick them up and sell off what I don't want or need.

From what you say, perhaps I will transfer the keepers to AirTites and maybe leave the others in whatever capsules that they are already in. Like you say, leave it up to a buyer to decide what they would want to do with them.

Thanks again for your thoughts and all other opinions and thoughts on this would always be appreciated.
