Instead of a monetary value, a rating could be assigned for (1) rarity and (2) desirability (supply and demand). Then, individuals could determine relative values on their own.

Just a thought, and easy for me to say, who has never written a guide book. I must say I am very pleased with the guide books I have purchased. I wish I had money for more!
