For the last few weeks, I've been reviewing some JPEG files I've got stored on a CD-ROM and copying some of them to my C: drive. Here's the process I follow:
I use Windows Explorer to browse the E: drive, where the CD-ROM is, looking at the thumbnail view. As I see a file I may want to copy to my hard drive, I double-click it, which opens the file in the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer.
If I decide to save it to my hard drive, I click the little disk icon to "Copy To" then select the directory on my hard drive. I also enter a new name for the file before I hit the "Save" button.
This has been working great for weeks. Suddenly, this morning I start getting the error message you see below the first time I try to save a file. I can try again and it will save it on the second try with no problem.
I'm assuming I've inadvertenly changed some setting or something, but I can't figure out what. I'm using Windows XP.
Using Windows Explorer, I selected the folder I'm trying to save to and looked at the properties. It had the "Read Only" box checked. I unchecked it, but came back a few minutes later and it was checked again. Is this related to the problem?
