If you count, you will notice that I have only discussed 9 of the 11 casinos on Aruba. That is because 2 are presently closed. The Centurion, as well as the entire Aruba Grand itself, are closed for a year for renovations. Brian, you got in just in time. Does anyone have a chip or token to trade from there? I never got any.
Second, Brian reported that the Royal Cabana was temporarily or permanently closed. Well, it looked permanent to me. My cabbie on the way in said it was through, but was being replaced by an independent casino being opened in the restaurant (once called the Hang Out) right next to the Royal Cabana. Below are some farewell photos of the Royal Cabana and some Welcome to Aruba pictures of the incoming casino.
When you get up close to the entrance, there are dead electric wires hanging down from light fixtures, and the place looks like it's been deserted for years.
The entrance to the night club, the Iguana club, is barred shut and the glass from the outside of the door has been smashed:
But, from the ashes rises...the Key Largo:
You can see the Royal Cabana in the background:
So, who's going to get me a chip??
