My favorite casino is the Excelsior. When I went in 2002, they were the only game in town for poker, and it was a great place to play. Hats off to Marta, who runs the room. In the meantime, I was told that the Radisson opened a new, nicer room (it is), and took over as the place to play poker. Well, the pendulum swung again, and the Excelsior was clearly at the top of the heap. They had the best tournaments, the biggest games, and more games than anywhere else. They also have a sports book for those that bet on sports, and a small but adequate casino.
They are still using the same series of chips, but have added a yellow $2 chip. You can find the older chips, but the first series, with the blue writing, are hard to find, and in very rough condition. The only chips which say "poker" on them are the old $1 chips, which are all in worn condition, and a new blue $20 chip (too rich for my collecting blood).
