100 Fremont St.-Birdcage

Birdcage Casino
100 Fremont St.
1958-1959

Prior to the Birdcage, this lot was occupied by the Bank of Nevada. The bank moved to a larger building and, on New Year's Day, 1958, the Birdcage opened. In April, 1959, 2 Keno players hit tickets for $25,000 each. The Birdcage didn't have the money to pay the jackpots and ended up filing bankruptcy and closing. (Information from Doug Saito's auction catalog of the Larry Markman collection)
