Thanks so much for the kind words! Starting this kind of thread is lots more fun when others join in with pertinant posts.
As for the keychains and matchbooks...The Fortune Club was under the same management as the Nevada Club, so I kind of assumed that they had the same promo policy in both clubs. 3 out of 4 of our Fortune Club keychains are initialled, as are 4 of our 5 Nevada Club keychains.
The "you can be TOP man" coupon that I pictured, promises a souvenir box of matches from the Nevada Club, as well as two "beautiful key tags with initials of your selection". I've wondered if the box of matches is a matchbox with wooden matches (haven't seen anything like that from the NC), or literally a box of matchbooks (initialled??), or ....???
In the 1959 magazine, they talk about how they promoted the Nevada Club. "'Doormen' stationed at the club's three exits make sure everybody who leaves has a souvenir. They ask simply 'DID YOU GET YOUR FREE SOUVENIR?' This type of attention has paid off. It is almost impossible to escape the mounting enthusiasm Nevada Club employees promote."
"The Nevada Club is responsible for many novel ideas which have since become accepted throughout the state...first 'three bar in any position' machine...first side by side 'twin machine'...first with initialled souvenir keychains...first with 'double time' every fifteen minutes and many others."
Sorry for ramblin' on...the short answer should have been "I dunno'!"
