Actually, there are a lot of reasons other than the scanning that it takes so long. When I get a new riverboat chip I have to:
1) Assign a CG number
2) Scan the chip @ 100 dpi (website, book)
3) Scan the chip @ 300 dpi (magazine article)
4) Scan the chip @ 600 dpi (hi def for future reference)
5) Edit for color and remove background
6) Convert from .tif to .jpg
7) Copy the resulting files to their proper directories
8) Add the chip to my personal collection database
9) Add the chip to ChipGuide.com (this takes much longer if it is from a completely new casino and I have to add all the stuff for that also.)
10) Add the chip to my book
11) Add the chip to my magazine article and convert the 300 dpi image to grayscale, remove the background, etc.
Indian chips don't take quite as long as I don't have to add them to the book or the magazine article.
