On March 19, 1932, The Apache Hotel opened on the corner of Fremont and Second Street in Las Vegas. Currently that is the location of Binion's...formerly the Horseshoe.
Over the years, several different businesses operated at that location, in the "30's and "40's many of them used the name "Apache".
There's 3 swizzle sticks in this picture. The top one says "Stolen from Apache Bar". The middle one says "Mission Bar", and the bottom one says "See Boulder Dam at Al's Bar, 111 So. First St. Las Vegas, Nevada".
(I included the Mission Bar and Al's Bar in the picture because they came with the Apache swizzle, and I think they help to authenicate the Apache swizzle as being from Las Vegas.)
This street scene, showing the Apache Casino, is from 1939. On the far left side of the picture, where you can see the red arc, is where the Mission Bar was located.

On March 2, 2002, a debate started on the chipboard about whether there was or was not an Apache Casino. The debate went on for several days. (Link below)
On March 6, Michael Knapp became my hero forever when he started a new thread with a picture of the Apache Casino.
The whole thing generated an outstanding article, by John Yee, in CCTN Volume 15 #2, page 35. The article can be accessed at: http://www.cctn.ccgtcc.com/archives2.html
