This was my first convention, AND, I am an eBay rat. From that perspective, I was disappointed in the inflated prices on run-of-the-mill chips I saw from a large percentage of the dealers.
I understand there is more overhead in coming to a convention and selling, but, I routinely saw average chips going for twice the price the same chip sells for on eBay. Even after tactful inquiries into "dealing", most of the bottom prices I negotiated were still far above what I felt I would be comfortable paying. BTW, I really don't consider myself to be a "cheap" person, and I came with money to spend. I do, however, have a problem with paying more for anything that I know I can get a better price on.
I am even willing to slightly overpay to support the "local guy", but there is a limit.
There were exceptions. Barry Weintraub immediately comes to mind. His chips were fairly priced and he genuinely welcomed offers. For the most part, though, I was looking and not buying.
Other than that, I had a great time and am planning on going back next year. Alot of good people, many super chips, and a very good time.
