chip that had a very old piece of tape on it. When I removed the tape, the dried adhesive stayed on the chip.

The chip was worn and drilled, so I figured I couldn't make it much worse. I have a bottle of Goof Off brand Adhesive Remover that I used very liberally, and it removed the adhesive without damaging the chip.

I don't know if it would work on glue.
