ATLANTIC CITY — A thief stole 15 gaming chips Monday valued at $75,000 from a high-roller blackjack table.
State Police in the Division of Gaming Enforcement said the theft occurred about 6 p.m. Monday at the Atlantic City Hilton Casino Resort. The thief grabbed 15 $5,000 chips and fled the casino, Detective Sgt. David Hickman said.
“Anyone can redeem a chip, but a chip of that value brings more attention. Twenty-dollar chips are a dime a dozen. But not everyone comes to the gate with a $5,000 chip,” Hickman said.
The suspect initially was described as a Hispanic male wearing a white T-shirt and dark pants.
