I always enjoyed staying on the North Shore. A bit more "small town" there though, though there are some good casinos up there, I love Nevada City and Truckee though, so the north shore is closer to both. South shore has more of the "traditional" casinos of the size that we are used to in Vegas.

North shore has lots of smaller motels too, that are quaint but comfortable.

You will be doing some travelling around the lake regardless, it appears. Personally I like the trip around the east side of the lake...less traffic typically. That means if you stay on the North Shore you are likely closer to the east road around the lake...though it depends where you stay.

*LOL* Sounds like alot of "one one hand...but on the other hand" wishy-washiness, huh?

Tahoe is beautiful regardless, so I don't think you really can go wrong. After many years staying on the South Shore, however, I typically head for North Shore these days.
