I am not much of an Excel user, stil hooked on 123. BUT, many programs put a "quick start" program in your startup file that runs in the background and allows those files to load and run quicker. I don't know if Office or Excel does that, but that MIGHT be the problem if for some reason that program is no longer running on startup.
