I've only been playing poker for a year or two, and exclusively online, mostly at PokerStars, so I'm looking for opinions from players with years of experience.

Some of the patterns of the way cards turn up on PokerStars just seem statistically unlikely to me. I frequently see things like ties between players who have exactly the same two hole cards (of different suits, of course). Or, I get dealt the same two hole cards (of different suits) two hands in a row pretty often.

Do things like this happen in live games as frequently, or could it have something to do with the functioning of the random number generators in the poker software? Or, is it just that I remember the few hands where these things occur and forget the hundreds of hands where they don't?
