When all is said and done I am predicting that sometime next year Boyd Gaming will announce their plans to redevelop Dania which in my humble opinion will result in the permanent closure and most likely implosion of the fronton to make way for a new multi-million if not billion dollar combination poker/slots casino sometime in 2008.
Whether fans of the sport want to admit it or not Jai-Alai has been on a serious downfall for the past three decades, A good example of Jai-Alai's failures include in Connecticut, the Hartford and Milford frontons permanently closed and the Bridgeport fronton was converted to a Greyhound track and in Rhode Island the owners of the Newport Grand Jai-Alai successfully lobbied the Rhode Island State Legislature to pass legislation to abolish live Jai-Alai and make it illegal under state law so that Newport Grand could operate only as a slots parlor and not be bounded to operating a fronton in order to have slot machines and as I'm sure we all remember in Nevada the fronton at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas was only open for a short time.
On the upside at least when Boyd takes over you know that their will be a decent website not the cheesy one they have now.
Progress all in the name of the mighty dollar.
