To be fair to your buyers I think that they should know that most junk boxes are in the area of $3 per chip, not $1 or less. I do remember one dealer last year that had a very nice $1 box with lots of poker chips in it. And of course sometime you can get volume discounts. Realistically I think you will end up paying $2+ per chip on average. In any case it is a good idea and I wish you good luck.
