I've now bought an additional scanner to compare: HP Model 4890 Photo Scanner. Specs: 4800x9600.

Epson price at Circuit City $199.00 ($249.00-$50.00 rebate)

I've installed the software and now need to play around to get the setting right and get the feel. Then I'll scan the same Desert Inn chip and give my comparisons.
