I have an earlier - and lower quality - Epson scanner but lost the user interface scanner software. I use Photoshop to drive the scanner and am very happy with it. It gives you great control over the cropping and storing of images. I did use the slide and negative scanning features and was very happy with those as well. I suspect I am much less demanding than David - most of my chip scans are crooked - but I have noticed that the scanner does not do such a great job on 3 dimensional objects like ashtrays and lighters - I have to use a camera.
