Thanks David, I was already thinking of going back with HP. After all, the scanner I've had the past 9 years and has served me very, very well is an HP.
But I remember speaking with Paul Hegge, who told me he was disappointed with the newer HP software version. At least, compared to the older one he used to use.
I agree that 250 isn't a standard size, but who cares about standard? If we can do it, and it gives a great view size for chips, then why the heck not.
I have always done my scans at 200depi for the database and chip scan cd, and it's a great size. Not too large, and yet very suited to clearly see a nice sized chip. At t200dpi (316x316), and a moderate compression rate, I can have scans with a file size of around 20-30k and displaying great clarity.
