I've played with the software for about two hours playing with adjustments for resolution, image quality, dimensions, etc. Verdict: Epson scanner software stinks !!! Even in the professional mode, there are some real issues:
1) the preview image display is tiny, and as I have played, I still haven't found how to make it appear larger without manually doing a zoom for each and every scan. (HP software gave the option to view just the image in a large format making cropping easy.
2) Making a defined crop box doesn't happen easily. I can make a defined box (after some considerable play time), but what's saved is not the same. I played with the intended size of 250 dpi and a dimension of 400x400. What was saved is 380x380. Hmmmm.
3)the software wants to automatically save the image files as "img001. 002. etc). You have to manually delete the auto numbering system. Or so it appears.
3) Image quality options appear to only be "best" or "draft" Hmmmm.
There are more issues, but these to me are some biggies.
The intended use for the scanner is photographic scans and digitalization of photo negatives and slides. That's also one of my intended uses, but chip scans are number one.
Anyone have input on other newer scanner software?? HP ??, Canon ? Others??
