Also make sure it is not defaulting to anything other then "best color". Many software programs with an artificial intelligence will decide what they think it should be. for instance if you are scanning a black chip, sometimes it will try to make a black and white scan. That's not good if there's a gold hot stamp! The backround indicated that's what happened....minimal color.
