"Did you settle this by calling casino security, by calling the police, by calling the Gaming Commission?"
No call was needed, they responded the minute I broke his nose. As for the dealer who couldn't remember the time, who kept flipping his wrist over every 15 seconds as if he were glancing at his cute little Swiss watch, he let out such a loud yelp, that security knew right where to come. No charges were ever filed against me. In fact the Hilton completely overlooked my involvement. I played there for many years.
But I think you missed my point. That happened 30 years ago, and being that it was a gambling incident (Hello! Keyword Gambling!) I chose to use that as an example. Would you rather I used a federal court case as an example? No you wouldn't, because anything to do with gambling intrigues everyone involved in this hobby. If they say different, then they are being dishonest with themselves. In any event, the gambling story fit the environment. Would I break David's nose? No, I grew up, that was 30 years ago. Besides David's nose is much to pretty to break. However on the other hand, I flat refuse to sit back and let someone drag me through the mud over an issue such as this one.
"I have been watching you hawk your wares and your website for some time now. Even in posts where you reply to others or seem to make a post unrelated to sales you somehow end up promoting your website."
You have! Interesting how people form opinions of others. If you really knew me, you'd know otherwise.
"It appears to me that you really have no intention of selling your chips or your website. If you really wanted to sell you would tell people what you wanted for it instead of playing some sort of reserve game where it seems that they only thing you are trying to do is drum up interest in your website. If you really want to sell, why not tell us HOW MUCH?. Who knows, someone may actually be interested in buying. If you dont really want to sell, why keep trying to advertise it?"
There you go again, speculating. My intentions were to sell it, but sneaky voices circulated throughout a group of childish players has soured me on the idea. Someone even went as far as trying to obtain my eBay password. I'm guessing to view the reserve. That was cute.
Do you think the eBay reserve feature is a game? I certainly don't. But others do and for some reason this has been spun off as if it were my fault. Go back and read what I think of reserves and how I view those who disrespect them. If you read that and think about it, it might start to make sense.
Here recently, after the auction, I have told several emailers the price. But no one here has been interested enough to ask, so what purpose would it serve by posting it? If I had, I run the risk of being accused of trying to drum up interest on the website.
"Trying to compare the values of your chips by seeing the prices someone else is listing a chip for is incorrect. If I list a chip on Ebay for $20 and you have 100 of them it seems that you assume you have $2000 worth of chips. You will quickly find out that that is not the case."
Would I be out of line by comparing this to Wall Street, where thousands of stocks are traded daily. Where buy-side analysts hype, and sell-side analysts bash? Hyping shares of a corporation trading 100 - 200 times earnings, in an attempt to cram inflated shares down some little investor's throat. Or the flip side, where bashing corporations into oblivion in an attempt to gobble up as many cheap shares as needed? Or how about the used car business where they always seem to find everything under the sun wrong with the car you're wanting to sell?
Bottom line, if you're buying it's junk and if you're selling it's gold. That's the attitude many take and when met with resistance to either of those scenarios, some tend to unravel, Like David for instance, he came apart like a cheap suit. But by no means does that mean I dislike the guy, in fact I respect him for having the hudspa he has. However I feel that he too should consider my position.
The entire package of chips, website etc was priced at $10k -- You may not see that as a reasonable price, but then again I find $40,000 dollar chips hard to swallow. Especially when you stop to think that reproducing chips of that nature is not rocket science. In China with a prototype, anything can be reproduced.
Bottom line. I didn't put those chips etc on eBay to be sold at wholesale prices. This is why I set a reserve. My thoughts are that if someone wanted it for a personal collection, then chances are they'd buy it. If not, then nothing lost.
