"Anyone who is a serious collector or aspires to be a serious collector will have enough sense to research what he/she is buying"
How do these people get to be serious collectors? They start out as beginners. Yes, and experienced collector will know better. We aren't trying to protect the experienced collector. We're trying to protect the unknowing person, who just doesn't realize that these chips aren't from the casino. That these chips are fakes and sold for .79-1.00 at a store that anyone can walk into, and available online for the very 79 cents as well.
"As long as the chip is not a copy, or a near copy, of an existing chip; no one, except someone who just wanted a Dunes chip, should be fooled"
Again, only the experienced collector will know they aren't real. Sometimes even though the seller says "commemorative chip" the buyers just don;t realize what's going on. Just do a search of some of these auctions that have ended and you'll see sometimes they bring huge prices. Do you think these sellers put them up week after week after week because nobody buys them?
