Ok, they won't kill us, but they sure are really bad for the hobby.
I ran across this chip auction. The seller clearly states it's a fantasy chip, but this person has morals...there are plenty of others that don't. Boy...if the club only had an official task force to police ebay looking for misrepresented fantasy chips. I think a club sanctioned "department" like that would be a very, very good thing.
Production, sales and reselling of fantasy chips will never go away. There is far too much profit to be made for that to happen. We as a Club however, can make a different in how these auctions and sales are presented to the public.
The job would definitely require time searching ebay, but if there were a group (task force) taking on the project, the task wouldn't be so large. Personally, I have far too much on my plate to take on a project like this, but maybe there are some other chippers that feel the same way as me.
I think if presented to the Club BOD, there's a pretty darned good chance there would be agreement in the benefits.
