It looks like the Riviera is doomed to come down in the very near future to make room for another mega-resort such is happening to the Tropicana, Stardust, Frontier, Imperial Palace, Barbary Coast and a few others on the Strip. It is just too old (50+ years) to renovate and the land is too valuable. That spells trouble for our annual convention at a strip hotel most likely. However, I was at the Orleans for a couple of our conventions and it was darn nice there. The poker and blackjack tournaments were held there also which made it nice, the management welcomed all of us with open arms, the place has doubled in size since then, their rooms are almost mini-suites and they have a free shuttle to and from the Strip running every 20 minutes which made it great. So, heck, we can always go back there after all the cheaper hotels on the Strip are torn down and they will be one day. Living here and seeing what is happening to the Strip and the environs is not pretty.
