Former world champion Acelino Freitas (38-1, 32 KOs) won back his former WBO lightweight belt with a twelve round split decision over Zahir Raheem (27-2, 16 KOs) on Saturday night at the Foxwoods Resort in Mashantucket, Connecticut. Freitas got off to a good start, but Raheem was able to turn the tables in the middle rounds as the pace slowed. Both fighters had their moments down the stretch with the fight ending in a heated exchange. Scores were 116-112, 115-113 Freitas, 115-113 Raheem.
Total punches thrown were: Freitas 517 and Raheem 397 for a total of 914 punches thrown.
