That's pretty early, Allan! I remember some of the box cameras that my family members owned as well. One took the monstrous 118 roll film, 3 1/4" x 4 1/4"! that was made up until 1961. 116 size film for your box Brownie was made as late as 1984.
The German Kodaks started in the 1930's when Eastman bought Dr. August Nagel Kamera-Werk Stuttgart. This was the era of the Retina cameras including the Retina folding cameras in 3 series and the later Retina Reflex. There were also German made versions of early Kodak folding bellows cameras that were not sold in the USA. These can be identified by the German made lens and shutters.
