Palm Springs has an airplane museum and once in a while a WWII bomber will be featured. Last summer a B-25 did a fly bye. There's nothing like the deep throated sound of those old engines, what a rush.
When I was flying over to Guam in 1964 we landed at Wake Island to refuel. It was just before sunrise and in the mist and half-light we could see the distinctive tails of several B-29's. I thought I was in a time warp but it turned out they were used to fly typhoons. We asked Ops if they would just fire one of 'em up for us. Nope.
