While I was out getting the Sunday paper yesterday I heard some airplane engines. This is no new experience as I live less than three miles from Deer Valley Airport (a busy private airport), but this was not the usual buzz of some plane it was a symphony of engines. I turn around and what do I see but a WWII B-17 doing a slow pass over my street. Drat! Why don`t I take my camera out get the paper in the morning. Do I run for the camera or just enjoy the sight? I just watch it make the turn to line up with the runway. After breakfast I grab my camera and drive over to the airport hoping they parked the B-17 where I can get some pictures. No luck, I drive all the way to the far side of the airport, hangers in the way. On my way back as I am passing the end of the runway I think I see it parked by the terminal so I stop. This is at least a mile away. Yes there it is, while I am trying figure a way of getting recognizable shot the B-17 takes off in the other direction. Not so great in the pictures department.
