Actually John ... I'm satisfied with the scanner (after cropping out the gray background) which I don't think I should have to do.

I've got to use the Picture-It software anyway to rotate the image after cropping out an individual chip from the multiple chips on the glass, so it's just another step to crop out the gray background.
