Hi Phillip; Thank you for your assistance. If what you say is accurate ... then the Canon scanner is an inferior product to HP ScanJet and
One-Touch scanners. Even if I cover the entire Canon scanner with a dark blanket to block out all external light sources, the Canon scanner still produces an unwanted gray background. I would hope that this problem is referred to your design engineering department.

The small LiDE series scanners are not designed for such scans. The CCD scanners are better suited for this kind of scanning, however scanning 3D objects are not in any of the product descriptions.
