When was the last year GM made a profit?
As to having to park farther from the plant if you don't drive a GM product, you still have freedom of choice concerning what you drive. It also shows that a level of discrimination is acceptable in that environment. While such requirements for parking privileges might have come from management, I'd be more inclined to believe that the idea was born in the UAW, similar to disdain for "scab" workers.
I wonder how many GM workers would object to my parking my Japanese built Isuzu Impulse in the GM car owners lot. Except for cosmetic differences in the body work on the nose and tail, it is the same car as a Geo Storm Gsi, which was also made in Japan.
