It occured to me that there must be some clue as to whether the initials are SHM or WHS. I see no clue in the W/M or S. However, the crossbar in the H is off-center.

I wonder if the right way to read the H is with the cross bar below center or above center? In any case I think that would determine whether you have SHM or WHS.
