it would probably be in the form of a two day seminar held during the convention. The difference: I bet a panel comprised of chip graders would be put together by volunteers and offered at no additional charge to the attendees.
Jeez, we volunteer for everything else in this club.
And there's the difference. Everyone bit@hes about dues, prices etc....and meanwhile how many realize that at ANA/APS seminars you are expected to fork over (the cost of Life Membership) for a few hours of seminars and no convention. When attending professional conferences (ie G2E,the CES, etc.) it's usually 500-1000 above the con price to be able to attend their educational seminars, which are presented by COMPENSATED speakers.
***On the other hand, if the club offered it at a price, the fireworks would fly...and fly...and fly.***
I like the GSNA's "bring your own loupe" rule though! Talk about cost-cutting
Archie, we had this discussion a LONG time ago and the biggest problem we came up with was the prohibitive cost of equipment involved. (and also that if a "certificate of grading" were to be issued for a chip, then it would be akin to falling on the slab-wagon)
I think it would be a well-received event though; Day 1- grading, Day 2- detecting altered chips. Hmmmmmmmmm.....
So there's my two cents. I think your post was starting to get lonely
